All the softball outfielder did in her first game of the season is hammer home runs in first two plate appearances of the season. Playing at Lawrence Free State, she had a two-run homer in the second inning, which she followed with a solo shot in the fourth frame. She ended the game two for two with a walk in the Lancers’ 4-3 loss to the Firebirds. Fosnough-Biersmith is the starting centerfielder for the Lancers after playing shortstop in her freshman campaign. “She is one of the true leaders on our young Shawnee Mission East varsity team,” Lancers coach Deon Slemp said. “With her ability at the plate and her desire to be the general in the outfield, Haley looks to have an outstanding year for the Lancers.”
