yearsThe 2009 high school boys golf season promises more thrills like 2008 when Shawnee Mission East captured the Class 6A state crown and St. Thomas Aquinas accomplished the same in 5A.

Along with the team championships, Blue Valley West’s Curtis Yonke won medalist honors in 6A and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Joe Winslow earned the top place in 5A.

Both are back for the 2009. Yonke, who was the 2008 All-Sun Golfer of the Year, is a senior. Winslow is only a sophomore.

The only other returning All-Sun first-team selection is Blue Valley North junior Harry Higgs.

The state tournaments this year are set for Tuesday, May 26. The 6A tournament is in Topeka, while 5A is in Emporia and 3A in Wichita.

Here is a capsule look at the 2009 season. The information is based on information provided by the coaches.
