Church invites community to movie night 

Overland Park Church of the Nazarene, 9030 Lamar Ave., invites the community to bring a lawn chair and enjoy "Mystery Movie Under the Stars," an outdoor showing of a feature film at 8 p.m. Friday, June 26.

St. Mark's hosts United in Freedom Fiesta

St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, hosts a United in Freedom Fiesta from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27.

The event features ethnic food, international music and entertainment, children's games, piñatas, and street vendors.

The Fiesta is the brainchild of William Del Valle and Maribel Vazquez. They wanted to create a celebration that encompasses the love of freedom of all people. The event provides opportunities for many cultures to display with pride their expressions of freedom and their gratefulness for living in a nation that recognizes that privilege.

Leawood Baptist presents musical celebration

The music department of Leawood Baptist Church, 8200 State Line Road, presents a musical celebration of African-American spirituals at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, June 28.

Village Presbyterian holds ice cream social

 Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, hosts an ice cream social from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28.

The event includes an exotic and muscle car show, food, music, face painting, moonwalk, and stilt walkers.

Comedy group performs at Bethany Lutheran

Bethany Lutheran Church of Johnson County, 9101 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, hosts the Improv Group from Comedy City at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28.
