Healing service at Beth Shalom The second in a series of community healing services sponsored by the Jewish Community Chaplaincy program is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Congregation Beth Shalom, 9400 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Mo. The service is for anyone interested in a spiritual healing service featuring traditional liturgy and contemporary readings and music. With the theme “To Enlighten the Spirit,” the service coincides with Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. The idea is to use the external lights of the holiday and help prepare one’s inner light and create inner strength. The service will be co-facilitated by Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick, community chaplain, and Linda Sweenie, Congregation Beth Torah music director. Rabbi Alexandria Shuval-Weiner of Congregation B’nai Jehudah will be the guest facilitator. The free service is open to the community. Church presents Handel’s Messiah Presbyterian Church of Stanley, 14895 Antioch Road, Overland Park, presents Handel’s Messiah at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. The Chancel Choir will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The performance is free and open to the community. Child care and children’s programming are provided.
