Catholic Charities Foundation of Northeast Kansas announced that Snow Ball raised $1,558,895 to support its programs and services that benefit more than 85,000 people in need annually. This was a Snow Ball fundraising record. “This truly is a historic event as we have exceeded our fundraising goal in the midst of the worst economy in 50 years,” said Tom Weiford, Catholic Charities board chairman. “It speaks to the generosity of the people in Kansas City. While these funds will help thousands of people in need, Catholic Charities is always in need of more help from the community.” After months of planning by a team of more than 200 volunteers, about 1,600 guests gathered for an evening with a cocktail reception and formal dinner, followed by dancing to The Boulevard Band and the Karen Davis Project.
Founded in 1956, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is a nonprofit health and human services agency that assists people of all faiths, serving 21 counties in northeast Kansas.
