Skynyrd, Kid Rock, explosions, America

Posted by in Everything Entertainment

It may get no more absolutely American for some people than the announcement today that Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd will be playing at Capital Federal Park at Sandstone on July 4.

Two of the most iconic, no-mistaking-they're-American musical acts of all time on the same bill on Independence Day? That could make for one of the more entertaining events in recent memory. One would think that the revelry and fireworks in and around this show might be enough for an entire year.

Kids 12 and under will be free for this show. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m.

Three shows announced at The Beaumont

Posted by in Everything Entertainment

Three shows have been announced, two of which definitely have my interest.

The first show is Pennywise, with Pepper April 18. Pennywise holds a sentimental place in my heart, as they were the band that got me into punk music as a dorky teenager. Their California surf-punk has moved from many subjects to heavily political through the Bush regime, so who knows what the boys will focus on now. The band has not played Kansas City since I can remember, if they have let me know. Maybe a Warped Tour?

Next is Franz Ferdinand on April 27. The group just released the African influenced "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" on Jan. 27 and have been major players in the new wave revival movement. Their lives shows have gained good reviews through the years.
