Miami County home to many unclaimed stimulus checks

I recently attended a SHICK — Senior Health Insurance Counseling of Kansas update training — and learned that according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities’ Web site, Miami County is among the top 20 counties in Kansas with unclaimed stimulus payments. There are approximately 550 Miami county residents that have not claimed their economic stimulus payments with a total value of $165,000. These Miami Countians are among the more than 40,021 in Kansas yet to claim Economic Stimulus Payments, with total unclaimed payments of $12,006,300. Late summer hard time of year to keep plants alive

Most gardeners have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. We are enjoying the harvest of tomatoes, beans and cucumbers from our gardens. Many perennials and annuals are in full bloom. Yet we struggle to keep plants alive in the heat and lack of moisture. Lawns are beginning to brown, and many of the garden pests and weeds are out in full force. So what should we do? Residents to clean land at 383rd St.

Following a nuisance and zoning hearing Wednesday, the Miami County Commission voted unanimously for the planning and zoning department to work out a schedule with property owners Travis and Keri Hunter to clean up their land at 31815 W. 383rd St.
